Add oil to large pot, add sausage and cook over medium heat for 5 to 6 minutes.
Add diced onion and cook for another 5 to 6 minutes
Add carrots, green pepper, and celery. Mix well and cook for an addition 5 minutes, stirring often.
Add broth and tomato sauce, stir well. Increase heat to medium-high and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer.
Stir in garlic salt, dried basil. You can add garlic powder if you want. You can add some heat with either a half teaspoon of cayenne or a teaspoon of garlic sriracha. Simmer for a few minutes more.
Add pepper and salt to taste. Ready to serve.
